Manager, Interconnection

Summary
The Manager, Interconnection, will oversee and manage the process of connecting renewable energy projects to the grid. This role involves coordinating with utility companies, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient interconnection of energyRe's projects. The Manager will play a critical role in navigating the complex regulatory environment and technical challenges associated with grid interconnection. Travel may be required to project sites and meetings with external stakeholders.
Key Job Responsibilities
Interconnection Management
- Lead and manage the interconnection process for multiple renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and technical requirements.
- Complete interconnection applications and study agreements, coordinating with internal teams to ensure all prerequisites are met prior to submission deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with project development, engineering, finance/accounting, and legal teams to meet all interconnection requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with utility companies, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and other key stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance
- Stay updated on interconnection standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure the company remains at the forefront of industry developments.
- Ensure that all interconnection agreements and procedures comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Represent energyRe in regulatory and industry forums related to grid interconnection.
Project Coordination
- Partner with development, engineering, and project management teams to integrate interconnection activities into project timelines.
- Monitor and track interconnection milestones, identifying potential delays or issues, and developing mitigation strategies.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of interconnection activities.
Technical Analysis
- Analyze data from interconnection processes, customer engagement meetings, and study reports, making recommendations to support informed strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop effective solutions for interconnection challenges.
- Review and assess interconnection study results, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analyses.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate communication between energyRe and external stakeholders, including utilities, regulatory bodies, and community groups.
- Participate in negotiations and discussions with utilities and ISOs regarding interconnection terms and conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, project management, or a related field.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in interconnection management or related roles within the renewable energy industry.
Other Skills
- Strong understanding of grid interconnection processes, regulations, and technical requirements.
- Experience working with utilities, ISOs, and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Smartsheet, advanced Excel, power flow analysis software).
Physical Requirements
