About the Project

Transmission

The SOO Green HVDC Link is a first-of-its-kind infrastructure project that will connect the midwestern (MISO) and eastern (PJM) power markets and enable the delivery of 2,100 MW of renewable energy—enough to power more than 1.5 million homes. By delivering wind and solar power to the nation’s largest electricity market, SOO Green will significantly decarbonize the regional electric grid and enhance system reliability and resiliency.

in the Midwest

Built entirely underground, SOO Green will connect Midwestern communities to reliable emission-free power and modernize the regional electric grid. By utilizing existing rights-of-way, this project will deliver renewable energy with minimal environmental impact. SOO Green will catalyze more than $2 billion of economic development and foster substantial job creation.

Upon activation, the SOO Green HVDC Link is estimated to meet 50% of Illinois' 2023 Climate and Equitable Jobs Act goal. By avoiding more than 2.5 million tons of CO2 emissions by 2030, it guarantees cleaner air and healthier communities for future generations.
